AI production assistant for REAPER · closed beta soon

Describe the beat. Watch it build.

An AI session partner that works inside your DAW with your own plugins and samples. It writes the parts, mixes as it goes, listens back and fixes what doesn't hit. Every track stays yours to edit.

Two beats it made in REAPER

Every sound came from plugins and samples already on the producer's computer. Press play and watch each track light up as it plays.

Rage · Emo-plugg · DigicoreE minor140–175 BPM2:30

SYSTEM.DELETED

Fried rage hooks against a dreamy emo-plugg verse, a digicore beat switch that melts down, and a tape-stop ending. Each of the seven sections runs at its own tempo.

Built from one prompt, then revised once from the producer's notes.

Rage · PluggC major140–160 BPM2:34

GLASS FLUTE

The producer wrote the melody. Starling reharmonized around it, wrote new hooks, turned the middle into a pre-chorus that builds, and added a dark plugg beat switch.

0:00 / 2:34

Melody by the producer. Arrangement, harmony and mix by Starling, over several rounds of notes.

Both beats were produced by Starling in REAPER during development, using the producer's own plugins and samples.

Say what's wrong. Hear it fixed.

The first version of SYSTEM.DELETED got one round of notes. This is the same 26 seconds, into the first hook, before and after.

“Very very good, but the leads sound too dry, digital and raw, and kind of too high-pitched and harsh. There's a lot of room for more ear candy, FX, transitions and background stuff.”

The producer's notes on version 1
  • Dropped the leads an octave and moved the hook chords down with them, so the melody still sits on top.
  • Warmed the rage lead with tape saturation, a gentle dip at 3.2 kHz, soothe2, OTT, chorus, ping-pong delay and a plate.
  • Added eight tracks of ear candy: a plucked arp, a gated choir, risers, reverse swells, tuned sub drops, glitch FX, vinyl texture and delay throws.
  • Rendered both versions and compared every hook's brightness and loudness before handing it back.

From a sentence to a session

Give it notes the way you would in a session. It does the work in your DAW, then checks it by ear before handing it back.

Give notes, not settings

Describe a vibe, name a reference, or give notes on what it made. Plain words work.

It builds with your gear

Your synths, effects and sample library. It loads presets and auditions sounds itself, then keeps what fits the key and the vibe.

It listens back, then fixes

After each pass it renders in your session and checks for clashing notes, mud, harsh highs and sections that go flat.

A normal project, not a bounced file

Everything it makes is a regular session you can open, tweak and finish yourself.

Real tracks you can edit

MIDI, audio, sends and automation, laid out the way a producer would. Change anything by hand.

Bring your own ideas

Hand it a melody, a riff or a half-finished project. It builds around your parts and mutes instead of deleting.

Your plugins and presets

Serum, Surge XT, ShaperBox, Kontakt, FabFilter, Valhalla and whatever else is in your folder.

Your sample library

Searches your drives and Splice downloads and matches key and tempo. Your files never leave your computer.

Mixes as it goes

Levels, sidechain, bus glue and a loud, clean master, checked after every change.

One undo per request

Every change is read back from the DAW, and a whole request undoes in a single step.

Fair questions

Where it runs, what it sees, and what it costs.

REAPER · WindowsREAPER · macOSAbleton LiveFL StudioBitwig
Which DAWs does it work with?

REAPER on Windows first. Ableton Live is next, then FL Studio and Bitwig. A companion plugin will bring audio analysis and MIDI to other DAWs.

Does it replace the producer?

No. You're the producer: you set the direction, give the notes and decide what stays. Starling does the session work you'd otherwise do by hand, and hands back a session where every part is on its own track for you to change.

Do my samples or stems get uploaded?

No. Audio and sample files stay on your computer. The AI works from measurements and short descriptions, never the files themselves.

What if I don't like a change?

Undo it. Each request is one undo step, and you can tell it what to do differently. It remembers your notes for next time.

Do I need my own AI account or API key?

No. The subscription covers the AI.

How much will it cost?

It's a subscription, unlike our plugins. Pricing isn't set yet; people on the waitlist hear first.
